Taking Stock

At the end of my four years of university, I felt that it was time to take stock of the many things that have happened to me over my time at the University of Western Ontario.

What University Has Taken From Me
  • Four years of my life.
  • $30 000 + (mostly my parents).
  • Part of my idealism.
  • My love of music.
  • My energy.
  • My ability to enjoy classical music.
  • Parts of my sanity.
  • My ability to function outside of an academic setting.
  • The thought that I might understand the world.

What University Has Given Me
  • A degree that looks very pretty on my wall.
  • A liberal education.
  • The ability to memorize and recite facts.
  • A head full of useless facts about composers, pieces, and eras of music.
  • A love and appreciation for theology.
  • A desire to continue my education, although not in the field of music.
  • Amazing friends, who will stay a part of my life forever.
  • The chance to meet the man I will spend the rest of my life with.
  • The ability to find things that interest me and make them interesting to others.
  • Access to knowledge that I did not know existed.
  • The chance to become the woman I am now.
All in all, not an all together misspent four years. For all the times I wished that I didn't go back, that I didn't want to be school, that I didn't want to write the last paper, it was completely worth it.
