The Last Sunny Day
I had forgotten what it feels like to walk out of the door and be hit by a wave of heat. I've been away for awhile while travelling in the UK and there sunny days like we have in Canada at the end of the summer really don't seem to exist.
This is the last day before school begins again. I have at least a few days before all my classes begin, but I will be moving back to school tomorrow morning. It does seem to feel a bit like this is the last sunny day though. I know that it is not. There will be plenty more sunny days in the first month of school which will be bad for school work and good for playing Frisbee on the hill. There are more things to be learned while in the sun as well as in classes.
I, for one, still need to learn how to climb a tree. That will be my most pressing homework assignment before the weather turns to the fall weather as it so often does after the end of September. There is a certain beauty in that as well. The leaves will change colour gradually, passing through shades of yellow, orange and red. It's not quite the same as the sun shining across the lake in the early morning to burn off the mist.
This may not be the last sunny day of the year, but for me, part of it is.
